Description
The main project is digital modernization for the Arizona motor vehicle industry. Currently a 200 person team, building secure, scalable digital identity, portal, and modernization solutions for government and private sector clients with a singular focus on durable systems and better long‑term outcomes. We are looking for a motivated Junior QA Automation Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an ideal role for a recent Computer Science graduate or someone with 1–2 years of experience who is passionate about code-driven quality. You will play a key role in building out our automation suites, ensuring our web applications and APIs are robust, scalable, and bug-free. This will be a 6 month contract to hire position through Pace Setter Solutions LLC, with the potential for full-time employment with the client based on performance. The contract rate will be $30/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Automation Development: Build and maintain end-to-end automated test scripts for UI and APIs using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Manual & Exploratory Testing: Perform initial manual testing on new features to understand the logic before transitioning them to automated scripts.
  • Database Validation: Write and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity and backend processes.
  • Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects in Azure DevOps, collaborating closely with developers to ensure timely resolutions.
  • API Testing: Utilize Postman to test and validate RESTful APIs for performance and correctness.
  • Continuous Integration: Monitor and analyze automated test results within our CI/CD pipelines.
  • Load/Performance Testing: Utilize K6 to test critical user workflows at scale.
  • Agile Participation: Participate in Agile ceremonies including Daily Stand-Ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Requirements Analysis: Review and analyze business requirements to produce well-structured test strategies and test cases prior to development.
  • Code Review: Contribute to peer reviews of automated test scripts to ensure maintainability and reusability across the team.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience in software testing or software development.
  • Coding Skills: Fundamental understanding of programming logic; experience with TypeScript or JavaScript is highly preferred.
  • Database Skills: Ability to write basic SQL queries (JOINs, SELECTs, WHERE clauses).
  • Mindset: A "break-it" mentality with a strong attention to detail and a passion for automation over manual repetition.
  • CI/CD Knowledge: Working understanding of CI/CD practices and experience integrating automated tests into build pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Agile Experience: Comfortable working within Agile/Scrum team environments throughout the full delivery lifecycle.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the United States. All work must be performed in the U.S.
  • Residency: Must have resided in the U.S. for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
